Well the little challenge I set myself with this new Sun Poker account has finally been completely. It took quite a bit longer than anticipated in the time sense, mainly due to getting tied up with the WCOOP and the FTOPS and my cash games on Stars and Full Tilt

I set myself a “double my money” goal over the span of 20,000 hands. I am glad to say I was successful within 10,000 hands, so I guess you could say I was a long way ahead of schedule. Cash games are a funny beast though, and it could quite as easily of taken the full 20,000 or more with some very bad negative swings

Closing Balance = $404.86. Total Challenge Profit = $205.86. Total hands played = 9530

I dont know what I’ll do with the money there, donk it off at some MTTs maybe

I may do some more cash challenges at one of my regular accounts, so watch this space.

After a downswing of about $20 I have been on a heater almost ever since. I crammed in some monster sessions. Poker is always so much easier to do long sessions in when you are doing well. I am getting a little frustrated with Sun Poker as a site, but now I have started this challenge I feel obliged to stick it out. It seems ludicrous after a reasonably successful WCOOP to keep it going. But stubborness to complete the challenge drives me on. Must Complete, Must complete (in my best robotic voice).

Current Balance = $317.15. Total Challenge Profit = $117.15. Total hands played = 5539

Things have been going very well on this challenge.  I have crammed in as many sessions as possible before the WCOOP starts on PokerStars, which will be keeping me busy for a few weeks. 

Barring a couple of losing sessions things have generally been going pretty smoothly.  There seems to be plenty of donks on Sunpoker ready to stack off with TPTK or overpairs.   As with all cash games, table selection and patience have been big factors.   If you realise you are on a table of rock hard grinders after half an hour then move on rather than trying to beat the game out of stumborness.

There is the FTOPS going on at Full Tilt at the moment, so I been focusing on that mostly. I did manage to complete just over 1000 more hands on the cash poker challenge, so that was good. Not exactly setting the world on fire with the profit still, but I suppose that’s better than an overall loss

I’m grinding away slowly at this Sun Poker cash game challenge. Havent even completely 2000 hands yet, most of which I blame on tournament “commitments” on Stars and Full Tilt. Hopefully I’ll start to knock out some really long sessions soon

Played a few more sessions towards the cash game challenge I have set on SunPoker. I am still down overall, but at least I’ve ground it back close to even. I will play some longer sessions soon to put a bigger dent in the hands played requirement.

An update on my cash game challenge on Sun Poker. I’m currently getting battered. I’ve played a few sessions too tired (literally one eye open), and had cold decks on other sessions. Nothing major too worry about. The usual poker swings. I know one slight leak that I identified several years ago, and that is in Omaha I tend to play a little too loose when I buy-in for the minimum, but play a lot more solid poker with a larger stack. Time to replug that leak nice and early ready for the rest of the challenge

Current Balance = $184.96. Total Challenge Profit = $15.04 down. Total hands played = 733

Lost nearly 3 buy-ins in one session, and grinded it back up to about $5 down in the next session. Then in the final session I managed to get back into profit

This was the very first hand of the challenge. Very eventful. Aces spiking a set, getting outdrawn on the turn, and then filling up on the river with a boat

I eventually decided on SunPoker for a few challenges as I liked the bonus on offer. I have set up an account with ID sunnyred. I am not sure why I choose that, it just popped into my head.

To start off I have made a $200 deposit. Not exactly setting the world on fire, but it will do for the purposes of my challenge

I’ll start off with a double-my-money challenge. I’ll buy-in for a sensible BRM amount of 1/20th of the roll, ie $10. My aim is to achieve the double-my-money challenge in 20,000 hands. God that sounds a daunting amount of grinding. I’ll post all updates in the ‘My Cash Games’ category of this blog
